Summer Comiket 2026

Comiket started in December 1975 with about 700 people and 32 circles crammed into a single room. This weekend, that fair returns as Comic Market 108, better known as Summer Comiket, and it has grown into the largest self-published comics event in the world. Roughly 35,000 circles will set up across Tokyo Big Sight on August 15 and 16, with single-day crowds that regularly top 200,000.
What Comiket 2026 Actually Is
At its core, Comiket is a marketplace for doujinshi (self-published works). Amateur and semi-professional creators, known as circles, sell original and fan-made manga, novels, games and music directly to fans. Major publishers and game studios also run corporate booths and cosplayers gather, filling the plazas outside the halls.
When and Where to Find It
Comic Market 108 runs August 15 and 16, with doors open from 10:30am to 4pm both days. It takes place at Tokyo Big Sight, 3-11-1 Ariake, Koto-ku. The Rinkai Line’s Kokusai-tenjijo Station is a seven-minute walk away and the Yurikamome Line’s Tokyo Big Sight Station is three minutes away.
Getting In: Tickets and Entry Times
Entry runs on a timed wristband and e-ticket system rather than walk-up admission. Tickets are sold per day, are non-refundable and non-transferable. Early Entry tickets require ID checks at the gate, passport or Japanese government-issued photo ID only. One child aged 15 or younger can get in free with a paying adult.
What to Expect on the Floor
Most circles only take cash, so a stack of ¥1,000 notes will get you further than a credit card. August in Ariake is brutally hot, and the line to get in starts forming well before the doors open, so bring sunscreen and a water bottle. Photography is generally allowed inside, though some circles sell adult-oriented work and post their own rules at the table.
Tips for First-Timers
Arrive early if there’s a specific circle you want to reach, since popular tables can sell out within the first hour. The catalog app is worth downloading in advance to map out a route instead of wandering the halls. Pack light: rolling suitcases are discouraged once the crowds thicken, and you’ll want both hands free for the bags you’re about to fill.
