Sarah Polley’s (Away from Her) second directorial feature again bucks Hollywood formula and expectations. Margot’s (Michelle Williams) marriage to Lou (Seth Rogan, playing it straight and impressing) retains its affection but has lost its passion. She finds herself attracted to a seductive neighbor (Luke Kirby), who’s got some stunning verbal foreplay going. It’s ever so slightly contrived, especially the “meet cute” bit, but it makes up for this in realism, honesty and unsettlingly identifiable emotional truths. Also comic Sarah Silverman, showing some surprising dramatic acting chops. Who knew?
