While the J. League and NPB take a winter break, the hardy boys of rugby play on through the snow, rain and cold of winter. The Top League playoff semifinals are held on January 22 and 23 (Toshiba vs. Suntory and Toyota vs. Sanyo, respectively), with the final taking place on the 30th. All matches kick off at 2pm at Chichibunomiya Rugby Ground. The league’s relegation/promotion playoffs continue on January 22, and the All-Japan Championship starts on the weekend of February 5-6. Finally, there’s the Top League All-Star Charity Match on March 6 in Nagoya, and fans should also look out for the All-Japan Sevens tournament in April.
