In Cyndi Lauper’s famous song, “True Colors” signify acceptance, but for the curators of this photo and film festival they suggest “the diversity of contemporary society as seen in different cultures” as it “examines the effects and prospects of globalization, identifying valuable things that are being destroyed.” New images are to be exhibited by photographers ranging from Japan’s Yoko Asakai to Albania’s Anri Sala. But perhaps the most intriguing part of the show will be the Japan debut of Chinese/Japanese/Korean trio Xijing Men, who will present a live outdoor film/installation/performance that models the new virtual city-state Xijing.
