The undeadly dull walk on the mild side continues in this gloppy third installment. “Vegetarian” vampire Robert Pattinson and buff werewolf Taylor Lautner, evidently too poor to afford a shirt, are still vying for the attentions of Kristen Stewart, oblivious to the fact that she’s clearly a tease. This time the bloodsuckers and lycanthropes must work together to protect Stewart. Isn’t that a fresh plot device? It’s the best of the three films so far (okay, least laughable), thanks mainly to new director David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night), who amps up the action and even tries on some humor.
