This is an adaptation of the 14-million-selling book of the same name. The book is non-fiction. The flick is non-entertainment. This movie-like product is a sociologically shallow sitcom that vacuously round-robins among five uninteresting women with interesting jobs who get pregnant, or some related malady, at the same time (why don’t rom-com women ever work in, like, banks?). Think Valentine’s Day or New Year’s Eve. There you go. Another exercise in cheap, chronic button-pushing that is, not unexpectedly, 1:49 of fingernails on a blackboard. It’s like being pregnant: bloated and nausea-inducing.
