Lovers of gourmet New Zealand cuisine are in for a treat next week when chef David Griffiths of Craggy Range Winery visits The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo. Griffiths oversees the kitchen at Terroir, which was named Best Winery Restaurant in New Zealand in 2009. From July 8-10, the chef will set up shop at the Ritz’s trendy Forty-Five restaurant (www.ritzcarlton.com/tokyo; 0120-798-688). The visit kicks off with a gala dinner on July 8 that sees Griffiths joined by Craggy Range’s owner for a ¥15,000-a-plate feast. The wines include Te Muna Road Sauvignon Blanc 2009, Le Beaux Caillou Chardonnay 2006, Pinot Noir Te Muna Road 2004, and Fletcher Family Vineyard Noble Riesling 2008. The food menu features butter-poached New Zealand scampi with truffle gnocchi, grilled pepper-crusted venison medallions, and prime NZ tenderloin poached with wild bush herbs. Special tasting menus will be available all three days at lunch (¥5,500) and dinner (¥13,800; ¥17,000 with wine pairing).
