You want a cancer comedy? Go see 50/50. Because this cringe-worthy misfire will only appeal to a dwindling number of hard-core Kate Hudson fans. Here the rom-com queen takes on the “brave” role of a woman with terminal cancer. (“Brave” means without makeup.) Kate gives it a good try, but doesn’t have the chops, and comes off merely annoying. The also-waning Gael Garcia Bernal plays the oncologist she inevitably falls for, and Whoopi Goldberg turns up for a pointless turn as God. Bright spot: Peter Dinklage as a male prostitute (see title).
