At the Academy Awards on March 7, all the attention will be on big-budget hits like Avatar, The Hurt Locker and Up. But don’t forget the Razzie Awards, given annually to the worst performers of the year, on March 6. People magazine reports that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen leads the field of dishonor with seven nominations. Michael Bay’s action flop starred Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf, who still managed to charm fans at the Japan premiere last summer (pictured). The film is up for Worst Picture of 2009, while Fox is nominated in the Worst Actress category. Her on-screen romance with LaBeouf earned them a nomination for Worst Screen Couple. Bay hasn’t been left out: he’s in line for Worst Director. Other nominations for the film come in the categories for Worst Supporting Actress (Julie White), Worst Screenplay and Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel. The Razzies are voted for by members of the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, which is open to movie lovers anywhere. In one interesting development, Sandra Bullock may pick up both an Oscar and a Razzie. She’s up for Best Actress for her role in The Blind Side, but has also been nominated for Worst Screen Couple alongside her All About Steve co-star Bradley Cooper. Other Razzie nominees include teenage heartthrobs and Japan favorites Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who will vie for the Worst Screen Couple with their Twilight Saga: New Moon co-star Kristen Stewart.
