A New Spot for Akihabara Travelers

During a press conference, APA Group President and CEO Kazuo Motoya expressed his excitement about the new opening. “With this new hotel, Akihabara now boasts five APA Hotels with a total of 808 rooms,” he explains. “Akihabara, known worldwide as a hub for anime, games, and pop culture, attracts countless visitors globally. We are thrilled to open a new hotel in this vibrant area.”

Motoya highlighted four key innovations at the new hotel, including the introduction of the self-rental mobile Wi-Fi service, “WiFiBOX,” in the lobby, and environmentally friendly initiatives such as eco-friendly room trash bags. Motoya also mentioned APA’s expansion plans for 2024, including the exciting pre-opening of the “Coast Seattle Downtown Hotel by APA” in Seattle and the December opening of “APA Hotel & Resort Osaka Namba Ekimae Tower,” which will be the largest in western Japan with an incredible 2,055 rooms.

The hotel is located just a one-minute walk from Suehirocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and a four-minute walk from Akihabara Station, making it highly accessible for both business and leisure travelers. It aims to cater to a broad range of guests, including domestic tourists, international visitors, and event participants.

Cutting-Edge Features and Sustainability Initiatives

The APA Hotel Akihabara-Suehirocho-Ekimae is designed under the “Even Better! APA HOTEL” concept, focusing on high-quality, high-functionality, and eco-friendly features. The accommodation offers the latest in urban hotel innovations, enhancing guest comfort and convenience.

The rooms and doors feature enhanced insulation, with insulated flooring near room entrances that helps to regulate the temperatures. Even the genkan (entranceway) shoe horn is made from recycled polypropylene, and the trash bags are made of LIMEX material to reduce petroleum-based plastic usage by 21%.

Key Innovations

As Tokyo continues to welcome record numbers of overseas travelers, the hotel also boasts guest-oriented features, such as multilingual signage, BBC News in English, universal outlets that support all global plug types, and a Digital Information System in five languages (Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean).

The WiFiBOX is a self-rental mobile Wi-Fi service accessible through a QR code, supporting five languages for easy use by international guests.

  • 1-Second Check-In Machine: Quick and contactless check-in via app or auto check-in on the day of arrival.
