Another of the many events reviving the Tokyo Station area as an entertainment hub is Art Award Tokyo Marunouchi. The free exhibition of emerging artists’ work is shown to commuters passing by the Gyoku-dori underground passage that connects Hibiya dori in front of the Imperial Palace to Tokyo Station. Many of the artists are presenting graduation projects from top Japanese arts institutions like Tokyo University of the Arts (“Geidai”), ranging from the whimsical furniture installations of Haruko Sasakawa to the abstract canvasses of Jin Hasegawa.

Marunouchi Gyoko-dori Underground Gallery, July 3-31.
