Think of it as the real Fuji Rock. Unlike its larger brethren, promoter Smash’s Asagiri Jam is held on a wide plateau that affords stunning views of Mt Fuji. The crowd may be smaller, and the main acts lesser ranking in international fame, but Asagiri is one of Japan’s best music festivals, with an easygoing vibe that lulls you to a state of autumn bliss. Despite not announcing the bill until just ahead of time, Asagiri always sells out. But it’s not hard to figure out who’s coming—simply have a look at Smash’s tour calendar the week of the festival.
