Keisuke Sakurai of promoter Precog brings the speed-dating approach to Azumabashi Dance Crossing, a kind of down-and-dirty, wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am sampling of Japanese contemporary dance. Eight groups of dancers have ten minutes each to perform, allowing viewers the chance to evaluate a spectrum of styles without having to commit to a lengthy performance. Among those on this year’s bill is the wonderfully instinctual Masako Yasumoto, who dances with everyone from pop stars Mr. Children to avant-pop composer Oorutaichi.
