Surprisingly little performance art makes its way from Kansai to Kanto, but this weekend Kyoto dance company Dots will be in Kawasaki to present its new piece Boat Here, Boat. Led by Gen Kori, Dots’ works blend contemporary dance, mime and theater with striking sets and dramatic lighting—such as their open air performance KISS at Kyoto’s roofless, Tadao Ando-designed Garden of Fine Arts. Boat Here, Boat is Kori’s meditation on motion and time, and features four emerging dancers including South Korea’s lithe Jung Young Doo, the leader of Doo Dance Theater.

Kawasaki Art Center, Dec 3-5 (listing).
