If you needed further proof that Twitter is fulfilling its promise as a groovy tool instead of just a “What I had for breakfast” information dump, check out BenQ’s new local site.

The Japan branch of the budget monitor supremo is using the microblogging medium to spread the good word about new products and special offers. The idea is that you just keep track of the company’s tweets and get back to it when you want to grab a discount coupon or follow-up on a new product. Although it’s still early days in terms of the number of followers, you can see it getting up over a million or so and BenQ saying “Sayonara” to traditional advertising.
