It’s taken 120 years, but someone finally—finally—has created a mosaic portrait of Vincent van Gogh out of polo shirts. The Dutch treat arrives courtesy of Tokyo-based apparel maker Onward Kashiyama, which asked 20 of its staff to spend more than three hours assembling the image from 2,070 tops. The work, on display last week in the lobby of the Marunouchi Building, was “inspired by the continued popularity of Impressionist art exhibitions in Japan,” according to The Asahi Shimbun. Onward Kashiyama pulled the stunt to promote a new line of shirts featuring colors used in late 19th-century paintings, in collaboration with French artist Jean-Gabriel Causse.
