A rusty Mel Gibson takes a break from drunken anti-Semitism to make this disappointing, less-than-thrilling revenge thriller (his first film in eight years), adapting (cramming) a six-hour BBC miniseries into a single gloomy, poorly paced movie. The twenty-something daughter of a Boston cop is shotgunned on his front porch. The shooters are initially thought to have been targeting him. Then he discovers her radiation poisoning, and goes after the slimy corporate culprits, aided only by a shady government agent (Ray Winstone, saving the movie), who advises him to seek revenge outside the law. Watchable.
