The Things We Share

Mar 1 - Apr 2

Hiromart Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Andy Brown’s debut solo exhibition in Japan: The Things We Share

Andy Brown is an American artist who currently lives in Danville, Kentucky. In recent works, Brown pursues the definition of cultural identity through his paintings. The exhibition features new works with the theme, The Things We Share as a key.

Artist Statement on The Things We Share

Defining a cultural identity is often complex and seemingly elusive. Though the language we use when discussing cultural identity often emphasizes differentiation and can sometimes be confusing, the immediate elements, objects, and lived spaces from which our individuality derives are wonderfully fixed. After residing in Tokyo for the last two years, and now living back in the States, the experience has fueled my interest to consider critically not only the cultural heritage of my spouse (who is from Japan), but also the shape of my own identity.
