“Too Many To Ignore” : Christina Lopp Solo Exhibition
May 05, 2026 at 11:00am ~ May 10, 2026 at 7:00pm
Artist Christina Lopp presents her first solo exhibition, “Too Many To Ignore”, at Hiroshige Gallery. Drawn deeply into Japanese artistic traditions, she studied shodō, sumi-e, nihonga and mokuhanga —practices that inform her distinctive fusion of painting and collage.
Working in watercolor, acrylic, sumi ink and beeswax, Lopp’s work explores a rich dialogue between cultures. Themes of communication, connection, mystery, femininity and play animate her canvases, shaped by the experience of navigating a beautifully foreign world with openness and intention.
In “Too Many To Ignore”, Lopp turns her attention to another dimension of gathering—what she describes as a “field of presence,” where collectivity transcends shared physical space. Through repetition and accumulation, her work considers how quiet forms build into something undeniable.
Inspired by the quiet spirit of kokeshi dolls, she introduces these feminine figures as recurring motifs—icons of memory, care, and continuity. Their presence draws attention to stories often overlooked, asking what it means to be seen, held, and remembered.
“I’m interested in how the presence of women builds—how something small, repeated, and often ignored can become undeniable.” – Christina Lopp
Since 2021, Lopp has participated in six group exhibitions across Tokyo. “Too Many To Ignore” marks her first solo exhibition.
