Masanobu Sakakibara Solo Exhibition “Reset” at Hiromart Gallery

May 07, 2025 at 1:00pm ~ Jun 08, 2025 at 7:00pm

Hiromart Gallery presents Reset, the fifth solo exhibition by Japanese artist Masanobu Sakakibara.

Born in Hokkaido and currently based in Saitama, Sakakibara is known for his vivid reinterpretations of imaginary video game scenes, painted using traditional techniques. His past series — Battle, Standby, Don’t be afraid and Walkthrough — explored game-inspired compositions in rich, deep color palettes and strong light-shadow contrast.

Reset revisits and reinterprets past images through a new lens. As the artist explains, this body of work reflects both personal and stylistic evolution. The new paintings are remakes of previous pieces, produced with his current approach and mindset.

“My theme this time is to re-express images showed in the past by newly painting these works with my current style. My outlook on life has changed as I have gotten older, and I wish to live as my true self. Therefore, the exhibition is titled Reset.
