Reset & Rise: A Sleep and Leadership Workshop in Shinjuku
Nov 01, 2026 at 1:00pm ~ Dec 01, 2026 at 5:30pm
The Sleep Enclave and Syzygy Learning team up for an afternoon of rest, reflection and Japanese ritual in Shinjuku on Sunday, Nov 1.
Event Overview
Sleep tends to be the first thing to go when work gets demanding, and it’s usually treated as a personal matter rather than part of how people lead. Reset & Rise, a workshop co-hosted by The Sleep Enclave and Syzygy Learning, takes the opposite view: that the way people rest shapes how clearly they think, communicate and make decisions.
The afternoon centers on what the organizers call sleep-infused leadership. Participants take a sleep leadership identity assessment, look at where they tend to overextend themselves and consider how better rest might support their judgment and presence at work. Alongside that, the program weaves in Japanese cultural practices, including an incense ceremony and a tea ceremony, as a way to slow the pace and make room for reflection.
The workshop is geared toward professionals and leaders, particularly those who carry a lot of responsibility for others and are looking for a more sustainable way to work.

Both facilitators are members of the International Coaching Federation.
Inside the Workshop
One of the quieter moments of the afternoon is the kōdō (the traditional Japanese art of incense appreciation) session, where participants pause as the scent fills the room and take a few minutes to reflect without distraction. A tea ceremony adds another unhurried ritual to the program, with the day loosely organized around creating, reflecting and moving rather than packing in as much content as possible.
The workshop also draws on a handful of Japanese concepts tied to rest and renewal:
- Totonoeru (to put in order and reset)
- Suimin (sleep)
- Anshin (peace of mind or a sense of security)
- Iyashi (healing, particularly the soothing, restorative kind)
- Jibun ni kaeru (to return to oneself)

How to Reserve
Registration is handled online by The Sleep Enclave, and the two-for-one option lets participants add a guest’s name and email at checkout. For tickets and full workshop details, visit The Sleep Enclave’s website.
Why Go
Tokyo’s work culture is famously demanding, and English-language events on burnout, rest and leadership wellness are still relatively few. Reset & Rise gives professionals a focused afternoon away from the office to rethink the role sleep plays in their work, with incense and tea ceremonies offering a hands-on introduction to Japanese approaches to slowing down. The follow-up coaching sessions and webinar also extend the experience well past the day itself. Looking for more ways to spend the month?
