The New Rain Makers Tokyo Concert: Halloween Album Preview

The international rock band performs debut album Waiting for the Rain in full at HQS Live Jiyugaoka on Oct. 31.
Tokyo-based international rock band The New Rain Makers takes over HQS Live Jiyugaoka on Oct. 31. The group will perform its debut album, Waiting for the Rain, in full before its Nov. 1 streaming release.
Eight musicians from the U.S., UK, Taiwan and Japan perform the record’s 8 original tracks. All were written by J. Dale Walker.
The New Rain Makers Play Waiting for the Rain in Full
The album moves between rock, pop and progressive, atmospheric sounds. The set ranges from heavier tracks to a piano ballad and longer, spacious arrangements.
This Halloween concert is the first chance to hear the complete album live before its digital release. The band will play all 8 songs in sequence.
Walker is a Tokyo-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Alongside The New Rain Makers, he has performed with Tokyo International Players and works as a music instructor.
Dakki feat. Chikara The Boy Open the Night
Opening act Dakki feat. Chikara The Boy brings a different mix to the stage. Dakki combines vocals with Tsugaru shamisen [Tsugaru-style three-stringed lute], while Chikara The Boy draws from rock, hip-hop and electronic music.
Their opening set features 13 original songs. The duo has also performed together at venues including Hard Rock Cafe Tokyo.
Halloween Covers From Sabbath to Talking Heads
After the album performance, both acts return in costume for a Halloween covers set. The planned songs draw from Sabbath, Talking Heads, Michael Jackson and a Japanese anthem.
Special Halloween drinks will also be available at the bar. Costumes are welcome but not required.
Only 55 seats are available, with open seating throughout the venue.
