Swedish avant-garde jazz outfit Fire! roll into Japan to show off their collaboration with uber-hip producer (Sonic Youth), guitarist extraordinaire and Tokyo resident Jim O’Rourke. Recorded in Tokyo, Unreleased? rumbles along on rolling tracks of drum and bass, with frontman Mats Gustafsson spewing an increasingly heady stream of venom from his tenor saxophone. It’s yet another reminder that some of the best jazz on the planet is now emanating from Scandinavia.
