Sprawling. Exhausting. Art fairs can be a slog. For the last four years, G-tokyo has brought the fun back into contemporary art fairs with an easily digestible number of imaginatively exhibited works from Japan’s top galleries. Sure the aim is to promote the next Murakami or Nara to deep-pocketed collectors, but the rest of us can enjoy the ride, right? To be exhibited are new works by the doyenne herself Yayoi Kusama, always entertaining even if tainted by last year’s Luis Vuitton collaboration, Kohei Nawa and Vietnamese artist Danh Vo, from prestige galleries like Taro Nasu and Ota Fine Arts.
