Sharp has always been something of a sensible company, but we’re not at all sure why it’s chosen now to build a PC the size of an electronic dictionary when previous similar efforts have been total flops.
The ¥45,000 NetWalker PC-NZ1 has just gone on sale, with its big selling point being the ability to do whatever a netbook PC does. And that’s just the problem—why would anyone buy something with an eye-straining screen of just 5 inches when a similar outlay will get you something far more usable with a screen twice the size?
In its favor, the Netwalker weighs just 409g, has a 10-hour battery, and runs the very friendly Ubuntu Linux, but we really can’t see this doing much at all. Sorry, Sharp.
