Jazz guitar fans welcome one of the world’s most adept practitioners to Pit Inn in Shinjuku next month. Following in the footsteps of Pat Metheny and John Scofield, Kurt Rosenwinkel mixes up traditional jazz with anything from hip-hop to rock ’n’ roll. The 40-year-old American guitarist is a frequent collaborator with Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest, but also scored plaudits for his more traditional 2009 album, Standards Trio: Reflections. Bassist Eric Revis from that record joins Rosenwinkel for his Japan tour, along with up-and-coming drummer Colin Stranahan.
