FAMILY VALUES

Regarding “Daddy Day Care” (Feature, Nov 18): Compared to the expat wives article, the expat dads were treated quite gently here, LOL. So if you are keeping score at home: expat stay-at-home wives are rich, self-indulgent snobs. Expat stay-at-home dads are honorable, self-sacrificing champions of the family. (Full disclosure—I am one of the latter group, so I am in complete agreement here)—RJ

NO ACCOUNTING FOR TASTE

Regarding “Plaid” (Clubbing, Nov 18): Thanks for doing a piece on Plaid. It’s nice to see good music being promoted like this, instead of the usual rubbish.—zenideth

HORRORSCOPISH

Firstly, thanks for your hard work, this magazine is really useful for gaijin like me. However, I’m writing to express my disgust at the horoscope section. In most magazines, this is rather amusing for people like me who don’t believe in astrology. But Ms. [writer Catherine] Moe’s section can only be described as the “filtered essence of linguistic garbage.” I am certainly no expert on creative writing, but could you explain the part in parenthesis in this line: “Be aware what you hear may not be what they meant (or what you said, either)”? Other ones:
•About Venus in your relationship sector. Yes, but!
•Live up to your dreams of yourself.
•A kaleidoscope of choices colors your options.
Really, Metropolis, really?
Yes, this might sound offensive, but you wanted comments. I am not sure why I am writing this email, as effectively it only fuels Miss Moe’s purpose of the horoscope, i.e. wasting my time. But since I already lost a few minutes, I thought I might as well. Keep up the good work (no sarcasm intended)!—Mathew

SLY-JIN FIZZ

Metropolis, thank you for the “Unknown Volunteer” mention. How about inviting stories from unknown volunteers? There must be millions of them out there. They do their stuff for no other reason than to just to help out, great! Their charitable work could be published in an anonymous and dignified manner. Our team goes to “sly-jin” webpages asking for apologies for the Japanese. Sometimes they try to justify their sites But trying to justify self-publicity from the deaths of thousands… well…? Thank you once again, Metropolis, for giving us a voice!—An Unknown Volunteer

TWITTERVERSE

@TJXDjCity: Love this one line “look like a gigantic green salad in the middle of Tokyo’s trendiest streets” http://meturl.com/plan923

@tweetheart4711 (Re: The British Isles as a gothic anime character): Very pretty art but she looks too sweet and shy for Britannia, even as a girl! Our lady is a feisty warrior queen.

@putermcgee Put DevilCraft on our list of places to go! Thank you, @MetropolisTokyo

@BookSexyReview: I am dying to read this book! RT @melvillehouse Nice review of The Lake from @MetropolisTokyo bit.ly/rrNfV9
