Cell

Keitai can be bad for your health

When a mysterious, piercing cell-phone signal turns all who hear it into raging, flesh-eating zombies, one man is determined to walk across New England to find his son. Well, there’s a new plotline. Author/screenwriter Stephen King adds a few peculiarities, of course, but not enough to make this despondent and dated film live up to its credits. It’s said that King’s macabre page-turners are difficult to adapt. I believe that, since here the author himself is clearly struggling for coherency. John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson provide names for the poster, but are pretty much phoning it in (a-HEH). (98 min)
