Restaurateur Shinsuke Katsuyama had the small idea at his birthday last year to host an organic wine festival—in the end 900 people came to enjoy a selection of 200 wines and food prepared by popular Tokyo eateries. This year’s Natural Wine Festival: Festivin 2011 looks to be bigger and brassier, with a vast selection of food and wines from Europe and Japan enlivened by performances from Malian singer, guitarist and kora master Mamadou Doumbia, and Bolivian musician Luis Carlos Severich.
