Small town Manhattan bakery hits Tokyo

There’s a new bakery in town, coming from one large fruit to another. The Big Apple’s popular City Bakery by chef and cookbook author Maury Rubin has opened not one but two locations in the Big Mikan, following the success of their first outpost in Osaka. The locations in Hiroo (5-24-1 Hiroo, Shibuya-ku. Tel: 03-6450-4440. Open daily 8am-8pm.) and Shinagawa (2F Shinagawa Atre, 2-18-1 Minato-Minami, Shinagawa-ku. Tel: 03-6717-0960. Open daily 8am-10pm.) are also based on the same model of the small town American bakery. Apparently the pretzel croissants are selling like, erm, hotcakes; so if you want real big city baked goods, you better get there—and quick. They also have breakfast sets (¥1,000), open-face sandwiches including prosciutto and eggplant (¥880) as well as exotic drinks like avocado and kale juices (¥680).
