Canada’s hip Cirque du Soleil company has two shows in town, but anyone yearning for a more traditional approach to the big top should check out Moscow’s Nikulin Circus, which is making its second annual tour to Tokyo Dome. Named after a beloved clown who performed with the troupe for over two decades, the 128-year-old Nikulin brings a classical approach to the circus and now includes some 560 artists engaged in over 100 different acts, often connected by a narrative thread. Among the acts coming to Tokyo are traditional stunts like the flying trapeze, as well as animal acts featuring bears and an impeccably coiffed pack of poodles.
