The mountainous region of Okutama lies in the far west of Tokyo, close to the border with Yamanashi Prefecture. American expat Brad Bennett has spent the past half-decade taking photographs of the area’s shifting seasons while guiding hiking tours there. “You can hike all day or just take it easy viewing waterfalls in the cool forest,” he says. “I think simply being in nature, whatever you do, is good for the body, soul and mind.” Bennett recommends a glass of wine, dinner or dessert while viewing his large-scale color prints at Dish Cafe in Yoyogi-Uehara.
