Drum and bass granddaddy Goldie may have canceled (his pregnant wife forbade him from coming) but his distant musical progeny Silkie will be in Tokyo to help Drum and Bass Sessions celebrate its 15th anniversary. All of 23 years old, London DJ/producer Silkie offers a housier, more soulful take on dubstep, the musical descendant of drum and bass. His output can be heard on his 2009 debut City Limits Volume 1, and has been showcased on key BBC radio show Generation Bass. Representing for Japan among others are Yama a.k.a. Sahib—after almost three decades behind Tokyo’s decks—and flash turntablist DJ Takaki.
