Fans of the eccentric American filmmaker, artist and writer will get a rare close-up of his musical side when he does his first club dates in Japan. Best known for his autobiographical artwork and films like Buffalo 66, Gallo is also an adept composer and songwriter who creates meditative, atmospheric soundtracks. Though he’s appeared at Fuji Rock Festival twice before, his three-night residency at Blue Note marks his live debut here in Tokyo. He’ll be joined by a three-piece band, and will no doubt play songs from his latest film, Promises Written in Water.
