Can Berlin offer lessons to Tokyo on reinvention? 25 years after the fall of the Berlin wall, some of the key players who have driven the city’s artistic renaissance will be in Tokyo for a conference and night of cutting-edge music. The links between Tokyo and Berlin’s electronic music scenes are many. One of the main guests for the conference will be Robert Henke, co-creator of the Ableton software that drives so much techno at present. A reading is also scheduled from Tobias Rapp, author of Lost and Sound: Berlin, Techno and the Easyjet Set. When folks have had enough talk, they’ll head for club Unit in Daikanyama, where German artists including Burnt Friedman will be holding it down alongside domestic creators such as Open Reel Ensemble.

Goethe Institut and Unit, Mar 1. See clubbing listings for details.
