Veuve Clicquot is almost as famous for innovative packaging as for its champagne. Not content with producing a 100%-biodegradable starch-based case that keeps the bottle cool for up to two hours, they have now packed up their bubbly in a sardine can-like case. The Ponsardine case is named after Madam Clicquot Ponsardin, who took over her late husband’s diverse concerns and combined them into a single, successful champagne business. This early prototype of a female mogul also had family connections with Napoléon. Inside the limited edition funky case (¥7,035) is a standard-size bottle of the Yellow Label Brut.
VC will also be holding a pop-up bar called Yellow Summer (Jul 12-13 noon-10:30pm) with a “typical 1920s Parisian atmosphere” (we all know what that’s like), and their own posh nosh food truck.
