Tokyo has witnessed a series of exhibitions devoted to Italian Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci—now it gets to see how those paintings were created, and what his inventions might have looked like if the prototypes had been built. “Da Vinci The Genius” features a high-definition recreation of The Last Supper as well as “Secrets of Mona Lisa,” an analysis of the iconic painting conducted by the Louvre Museum. Italian artisans have brought some of da Vinci’s machine inventions to life, including the first concepts of a car, bicycle, helicopter, glider, parachute, submarine and military tank.
