Mercurial contemporary dancer and choreographer Yukio Suzuki presents two new pieces at cozy Theater Tram, next to the Sangenjaya station of the Setagaya Line tram. A leading figure of the post-butoh generation, Suzuki blends butoh’s stark sensibilities with contemporary dance and ballet. Evanescere (“evanesce” or “disappear”) is a solo work, while Hisokana Gishiki no Mokugekisha (“Witness to a Secret Ritual”) is a group piece for four women dancers from his Kingyo company.

Theater Tram, Feb 3-5 (listing).
