Skills Academy Digs Into Metal for a Summer Open Class

Jul 15, 2026 at 11:00am ~ Aug 16, 2026 at 7:00pm

Fondation d’entreprise Hermès’s ongoing Skills Academy program — previously built around wood, then earth — arrives at metal for its 2025–2026 cycle. The summer chapter, “Learning from Metals, Thinking with the Five Senses,” runs July 15 through August 16 at SKAC (SKWAT Kamearĩ Art Centre) in Katsushika-ku. The centerpiece is a group show titled “結合” (union), featuring Leonor Serrano Rivas, Playfool, Sayaka Shimada and Shin Okuyama, alongside a report on a spring workshop series for local students. The run also includes artist talks, a free guided tour every weekend, and a sparkler-making workshop with Shimada in August.
