Jingu Gaien Fireworks Festival 2026

Aug 08, 2026 at 7:30pm ~ Aug 08, 2026 at 8:30pm

Tokyo’s only fireworks festival inside the Yamanote loop returns Saturday, August 8 for its 45th year. Around 10,000 fireworks launch from Jingu Stadium between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., set to music and preceded by live performances from a guest artist lineup announced in stages on the official site.

Ticket holders watch from Jingu Stadium itself or the neighboring Chichibunomiya Rugby Ground. Jingu Stadium opens at 4 p.m. with music from 5 p.m.; the rugby ground opens at 3 p.m. with music from 4 p.m. All seats are reserved and paid. Prices for 2026 are not out yet, but 2025 tickets started from ¥7,000. Because the shells launch from a stadium rather than over a river, they burst lower than at Sumidagawa or Edogawa, which is a drawback outside the venue and an advantage inside it, where the show fills the sky directly overhead.

Watching without a ticket

Organizers ask spectators without tickets to stay off the roads immediately around the stadiums, which face closures and traffic restrictions on the day. Slightly farther out, you have options. Meiji Park is the closest free spot, with lawns for picnic sheets, though it fills early and may restrict entry. The Icho Namiki ginkgo avenue and the pedestrian bridges near Gaienmae Station offer clear standing views. Yoyogi Park works for a distant but uncrowded view. The fireworks sit low in the sky, so an open sightline matters more than distance. For comfort, the Meiji Kinenkan beer garden has a direct view, and nearby hotels including the New Otani run viewing packages.

The show goes ahead in light rain. Severe weather pushes it to Sunday, August 9, with any postponement announced at noon on the day via the official website and social media.
