Koishikawa Plum Festival

Feb 07, 2026 at 9:00am ~ Mar 01, 2026 at 5:00pm

Known as harutsugegusa, or “heralds of spring,” plum blossoms have been cherished in Japan since ancient times. At Koishikawa Korakuen Garden, around 150 plum trees representing some 45 varieties bloom from December through February, offering an extended season of color and fragrance. Timed to peak viewing, the annual Plum Fragrance Garden Festival features traditional paper-cutting performances, hands-on calligraphy experiences, and a playful stamp rally themed around Koishikawa’s original plum candy, Koume-chan—an elegant way to welcome early spring in one of Tokyo’s most storied gardens.
