“Mood Swings”: Monique Deguchi Exhibition in Tokyo
Oct 03, 2026 at 11:00am ~ Oct 04, 2026 at 7:00pm
Thirty recent paintings explore emotion, reinvention and imagined reality at KADO Minami Aoyama.
Monique Deguchi will present 30 recent paintings in “Mood Swings” at KADO Minami Aoyama. The two-day exhibition runs Oct. 3–4, 2026.
The collection explores reinvention, emotional change and internal vision. Rather than painting from observation, Deguchi creates what she longs to see.
Inside Monique Deguchi’s “Mood Swings”
“Mood Swings” draws from abstract expressionism and manipulated reality. Its textures, subjects and palettes shift across the 30-piece collection.
Each painting follows the emotional state that shaped it. This approach gives the exhibition its changing visual rhythm and wide range of moods.

From Fashion and Summerhill to Painting
Before focusing on painting, Deguchi worked as a fashion model and founded Summerhill. Her career has moved through several distinct creative periods.
That history informs the exhibition’s focus on reinvention. “Mood Swings” presents change as an active part of Deguchi’s artistic process.
