The 2023/2024 season of the New National Theatre in Tokyo is back with “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King“, presented with an expanded performance period during the year-end and New Year’s holidays.

Premiered in 2017, this production has gained acclaim for its choreography and stunning artists, reimagining the classic masterpiece. This production features splendid, fast-paced choreography with a sense of humour by Wayne Eagling, while the rich colours of the sets and costumes describe the world of reality and a dream. Full of highlights, from the sophisticated pas de deux of the leading characters, beautiful corps de ballet of the snow scene and flower waltz to the divertissements of the second act, it is no exaggeration to say that this production fully showcases the talent of the National Ballet of Japan dancers.

The foyer of the theatre will be decorated for the festive season and the audience can enjoy a seasonal buffet menu during an intermission. We can guarantee that a day with The Nutcracker will be the best experience in a holiday season.
