Star Wars Concert Tokyo: Galactic Symphony Plays Kawasaki This Week

A full symphony orchestra and choir are playing the music of Star Wars live this Friday, August 28, just outside central Tokyo. Galactic Symphony’s one-night show at MUZA Kawasaki Symphony Hall runs through John Williams’ best-known themes and closes with something that has never happened on stage before: the world premiere live performance of the score from Star Wars: Visions — The Ninth Jedi.

Star Wars Concert Program: From the Main Title to Duel of the Fates
The orchestra and choir run through the saga’s signature pieces: the Main Title, The Imperial March, Yoda’s Theme, Duel of the Fates and Battle of the Heroes, plus music from The Mandalorian and Grogu. It’s a set list built for an audience that can hum along before the first bar finishes.
The Ninth Jedi World Premiere: Kamiyama, Toda and Jinnouchi on Stage
The night closes with something new: the world premiere live performance of the score from Star Wars: Visions — The Ninth Jedi. Before it plays, director Kenji Kamiyama and composers Nobuko Toda and Kazuma Jinnouchi join a talk session on how the film came together in Japan, from animation to score. Kamiyama directed Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Blade Runner: Black Lotus; Toda and Jinnouchi have scored Metal Gear Solid, Halo and Ultraman.
Cosplay is encouraged, gear is encouraged, and so is cheering through the Imperial March.
