Tokyo International Comedy Festival 2026: 120+ Shows

The 11-day comedy festival brings English and Japanese stand-up, competitions, workshops and special events to Shibuya and venues across the city.
The Tokyo International Comedy Festival 2026 runs from Sep. 17–27, led by Tokyo Comedy Bar and Baird Brewing. Now in its third year, the festival lists more than 120 shows across its 11-day program.
Expect English- and Japanese-language stand-up, competitions, workshops, live podcasts, improv and special events. Tokyo Comedy Bar in Shibuya serves as a main festival venue, with selected shows held elsewhere around the city.
What to See at Tokyo International Comedy Festival 2026
The King of Kanto competition is one of the festival’s major stand-up events. An English-language preliminary takes place on Sep. 17 at 9pm, followed by semifinals on Sep. 21 and 23. The final is scheduled for Sep. 27 at 9pm, with tickets priced at ¥3,000.
On Sep. 19, Richard Tomic, better known online as Ricchaado, headlines Haremame in Daikanyama at 6:30pm. His festival homecoming show is priced at ¥3,500.
Pirates of Tokyo Bay brings bilingual improv to Tokyo Comedy Bar on Sep. 20 from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are ¥2,500, and the show is built from audience suggestions rather than a script.
More Than Stand-Up
The program also stretches beyond traditional stand-up. Workshops, podcast recordings and crossover performances give audiences several ways to explore Tokyo’s English- and Japanese-language comedy scene.
One special event is “The American Burlesque” on Sep. 19 at Robin Club Omotesando. The show pairs international burlesque performers with comedians from Tokyo Comedy Bar.
Baird Brewing returns as a festival partner and has created a limited-edition beer for the 2026 event. Metropolis has previously covered the Shizuoka brewery and its long-running craft beer operation.

Tokyo Comedy Bar is located at 3F, 1-5-9 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku. The venue is about a 1-minute walk from Shibuya Station.
