Tokyo Poetry Week: Autumn 2026

Tokyo Poetry Week is a series of poetry events exploring the rare intersections of the city’s diverse poetic communities, from Japanese tanka poets to multilingual poets from the international diaspora.
The festival brings together poets and other artists to collaborate across various venues in Tokyo, with a program spanning readings, exhibitions, workshops, and talks. By popular demand, the festival has grown into a biannual event, and this autumn edition runs October 13 – 23.
This autumn’s lineup brings back Visual Poetry Night in collaboration with Concrete Poetry Party Osaka on October 15 at The Den in Koenji, focused on experimental poetry with poetry films, poetry games, and a pop-up library of rare poetry books.
On October 17, Tokyo Poetry Journal launches its new volume with readings, a Q&A with the editors, and free tarot card readings. The festival closes October 23 with a poetry slumber party, held as part of the LEVELS event organized with More Than Music.
Most events are free, with two paid exceptions: the Tokyo Poetry Journal launch and the closing party. Workshops cost ¥1,000 and require prior sign-up.
