Tokyo Poetry Week 2026
Apr 09, 2026 at 6:00pm ~ Apr 18, 2026 at 9:00pm
Following its successful inaugural run in 2025, Tokyo Poetry Week returns this April to create a rare intersection of the city’s diverse poetic communities. From Japanese tanka poets to multilingual poets from the international diaspora, the festival will transform venues across Tokyo into spaces for readings, interactive workshops and experimental art.
The week of events kicks off on April 9 at Gallery Conceal in Shibuya with a reading and talk with legendary lyricist for YMO Chris Mosdell and Zoria Petkoska K, editor in chief of Tokyo Poetry Journal.
On April 11, at UltraSuperNew Kura, poets and translators will give a multilingual reading and discuss the complexities of self-translation in poetry. The event will also have a coffee barista pop-up on the rooftop and a workshop on poem writing in response to art.
Set inside the cyberpunky Hven club, April 16 is a curated night of theatrical poetry, featuring poets performing with butoh dance duo Vena/Kava.
