Director and choreographer Yang Liping is on a one-woman crusade to save the folk art forms of China. Her last show, Shangri-La, played to full houses in Japan, and her new spectacle showcasing the art and music of Tibet is likely to prove at least as much of a draw. Based on her own travels to rural villages in Tibet, Kuranazo ~Mysteries of Tibet~ includes segments such as the phantasmagorical “Dance of a Buddhist Saint,” which depicts the cycle of birth and rebirth as understood in the unique form of Tibetan Buddhism.
