After first opening as a pie shop in Tribeca, New York in 1990, Bubby’s quickly expanded to encompass a range of home-cooked US cuisine, eventually hitting Japan in 2009 with a Yokohama outpost. The end of February saw the opening of Bubby’s New York Ark Hills (Ark Mori Bldg, 1-12-32 Akasaka, Minato-ku; www.bubbys.jp) in Akasaka, to bring its traditional recipes, fresh meat and produce, and hearty portions of comfort food to the dazzling urbanites. Try one of Bubby’s famous pies for dessert, such as the Mile High Apple Pie (pictured; ¥600).
