Newly opened Chowder’s Café (2F Atago Green Hills Mori Tower, 2-5-1 Atago, Minato-ku; www.e-chowders.com) offers a dozen creative delicacies of the day, and over 40 hearty stew varieties made with Seattle seafood and California vegetables (from ¥530). Though the signature clam chowder (¥680) doesn’t come with oyster crackers, its quality is superior to that watery broth served up at a certain soup chain. For those unwilling to fill their face with hot liquid during the summer season, a chilled seasonal soup is available as an alternative. Meals can be upgraded with a crusty French baguette, salad and Illy’s coffee for ¥980. Veggie and vegan options feature on the nutritionally balanced menu.
